Our Team
Dalton Xie
With over 30 years of experience in commodities and mining, Dalton has held key roles at Minmetals (China), Rio Tinto (Australia), and Cargill (USA). He later founded UORES, a Hong Kong-based mineral investment and trading firm. Dalton’s work in establishing Rio Tinto’s Shanghai office, co-founding and leading the iron ore trading unit at Cargill, his role in the Channar Iron Ore joint venture, and developing UORES’ mining business have significantly strengthened ties between China and the global mining sector.
As the founding chairman of the Kangaroo Mining Club (KMC) in Hong Kong, Dalton supports Chinese enterprises exploring global opportunities. He holds an MBA from Griffith University and a postgrad in Mineral Economics from Curtin University WA School of Mines.
George Zhang
George brings 37 years of expertise in sourcing, supply, and commodity trading within global mining, alongside extensive project management experience. He previously held senior roles at CMOC Group and Zijin Mining, where he delivered over USD1 billion in annual materials while significantly reducing costs. Earlier, at BHP, he managed around overUSD10 billion in materials across multiple continents, achieving over USD3 billion in savings.
Since joining KMC in 2016, George has fostered collaboration between Chinese and Australian mining sectors, yielding positive results. He holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering, an M.Bus in Commercial Management, and an M.E-com in IT Tech from HKU, and is a certified investment consultant and structural engineer.
Steven Wu
With 30 years in the industrial market, Steven brings expertise in steel building, refractory & insulation, and mining services. At BlueScope Steel (formerly BHP Steel), he led business development for steel applications and localised two European firms for China’s market. In mining, he established himself as a business consultant, notably overseeing the trial of a Chinese ultra-class truck in BHP's Australian coal operations.
As a founding member and the current Secretary General of KMC, Steven has been a vital link between Australian and Chinese mining services. He holds a master's in Construction Management from the University of New South Wales and a B.Sc and M.Sc in Civil Engineering from China.
